Myths and Truths About Robotic Process Automation

Robotic Process

Still having doubts about Robotic Process Automation? It’s time to clear them. Because RPA is here for good, however, some people have mixed emotions about this technology and make false assumptions.

Let’s glance over some contradicting myths and realities regarding RPA:

Myth # 1: Robots Will Replace Humans

It literally feels like a fallacy when you hear someone say, “Robots will replace humans.”

How can something replace its creator? However, it is a tradition that whenever a new technology walks in, conservative humans perceive it as a threat to their bread and butter.

Let’s take it like “Robots will reduce the human efforts.” Now, this statement deserves a debate.

According to the Labor Department of US, Finance industry is the greatest industry that suffers and works the most. It is one of those industries that persistently experience overtime working. As per the department’s analysis, the Labor industry is wasting their time on manual effort, unproductive exertion, and mindless planning.

Reality: These robots will make manual tasks more efficient and rapid, making hectic days more easeful for the burdened laborers.

Same scenarios imply on the fatigued testers that are now seeking some assistance and relief from the piles of test cases waiting to be executed.

Myth # 2: RPA is Costly

Every innovative technology is assumed to cost an arm and a leg, but it is not true. The reality is that it only depends on how you prioritize your objectives and goals. In case of RPA, you just need to grab on a right service provider who would guide you to customize particular features that meet your project’s requirements and those that are not required from the start.

Myth # 3: There is Actually No Robots in RPA

Well, there does lie a teeny bit of some truth in this myth because there would be no physical robots working in RPA. We talked about virtual assistants in our previous blog. Yes, there would be virtual robots incorporated in the autonomous system that will mimic the human action according to the input provided.

Empirically, the inbuilt virtual team will help the mundane testing tasks get in a flow with an increased productivity rate.

Myth # 4: The RPA Can’t Be Doubted

If some of you think that robots are 100% foolproof, think again!

Robots can only be as accurate as the programmer who programs them to be. However, Artificial Intelligence will take control, but robots will rarely have any cognitive powers since they would be running on the provided inputs.

If the operations or features of the robots are misconfigured or inaccurate, chances are your virtual assistant will end up providing its users with unstoppable mistakes and errors.

Myth # 5: It is Only About Cutting Costs

Cost reduction or cutting cost is one of the prominent benefits of RPA. But it’s not all that businesses seek in RPA.

In a recent report by HfS, cost reduction is not mentioned as one of the reasons why businesses will adopt RPA. Businesses will opt RPS for these particular reasons:

–     To drive predictive analysis and process high quality

–     Speeding up the development process and ensure fast delivery

–     To allow employees to invest their abilities in different tasks

Hence, with cost reduction, enterprises will receive a number of other benefits such as progressive growth, scalability, better productivity, and valued CX.

RPA is much more than macros or scripts, however, it will integrate and interlink multiple interfaces that will lead to intensifying the prototypes under process.

Hopefully, some of your major confusion would be cleared by now, but practical implementation and planning could give you an edge to understand RPA better.
